TOP MOVING TIPS

The day before the move, prepare food and drink for the big day. Keep the kettle, milk, sugar and tea bags on one side too – you’ll be making lots of cups of tea.

Sort out your cupboards and either sell or give away items you don’t need.

Let your children’s new school know when they will be arriving.

Send a change of address card to family and friends. Two weeks before you move, arrange for your post to be forwarded to your new address by filling in the relevant form at the post office.

Notify your bank, utility providers, Inland Revenue, DVLA and local council of your new address. Keep all your documents and valuables together in a safe place. You don’t want to lose them in transit.

A few days before the move, pack a bag with clothes, toiletries and other essential items, it’s helpful to have spare light bulbs, fuses, loo roll, phone charger and cash at the ready too.

Do last minute washing. It might be a few days before you have chance to do it at your new house.

Arrange for a friend or a relative to look after your children and pets on the day of the move.

GET A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP

So you feel fresh and energetic on the day of the move.
